The 2017 OKCTE Spring Conference - More Creative than Ever featured awards for student writing, recognition of the best and brightest new English teachers in the state, and the teaching of poetry. Dr. Iliana Rocha served as the "poet laureate" for the conference.

Geraldine Burns Award Winners Announced
Approximately 2,200 teachers graduated from universities in Oklahoma certified to teach. Of these 2,200 teachers, institutions of higher education in the state were asked to nominate the ONE BEST TEACHER OF ENGLISH at their university. The following is the list of winners of the GERALDINE BURNS AWARD for outstanding teacher interns for 2017. All Geraldine Burns winners receive FREE membership in OKCTE and FREE admission to the fall conference and a GUARANTEED SESSION to speak at the fall conference.
