Disenchanted: The Trials of Cinderella was full of adventure and excitement. There were a few words that were hard to understand such as-ethical, surreptitiously, and ensconced. It was about Ella, her mother died and her father married again within two years. She meets the prince at her school and they are chosen as partners for a class. Then Lavaliele (daughter of the ruler of the house of mortals) had to ruin everything by telling lies about Ella and making Ella seem like a vicious beast. I really enjoyed this book and could not stop reading it. It was a little hard to keep track of who was who but I managed to. I would really recommend reading this book. Review by N. U.
The book Kyle Finds Her Way is the book I have been reading. I have enjoyed it and I would rate it 4 ½ out of 5 stars. The book pulls you in and makes you not want to stop reading. Kyle Finds Her Way uses many words that 6th graders often say which makes the book more fun for young readers. I really liked how the book involved serious parts and some learning parts. Kyle Finds Her Way is about a girl named Kyle that gets into trouble on the first week of 6th grade. She gets put in a club as a punishment. Kyle ends up liking this club, but when she gets in trouble again she gets put out of the club and she is grounded. The club really needs her, she has to find a way to get back. You will have to read the rest to find out. Overall Kyle Finds Her Way is a great book. I would recommend this to girls ages 11 to 14. The content that is in the book is more appropriate for middle school aged girls. Review by E.H.
I just read Project 1065 by Alan Gratz. I love historical fiction books, especially ones about World War II, and I think this is one of the best books I’ve ever read. Michael O’Shaunessey, a boy from Ireland, lives in Nazi Germany with his mother, and father who’s the Irish ambassador. Only, they are secretly spies gathering information for the Allies. This book is full of thrills including hiding an English, Jewish pilot from Nazis, stealing blueprints of secret upcoming jet planes, and preventing an assassination all while keeping his cover. I really enjoyed reading this book and I believe anyone who likes historical fiction or documentaries would love it. Review by M.R.
The book Liberty by Kirby Lawson is a great book for 4th through 8th graders. This story was very interesting. I love dogs, so I definitely thought that this story was full of love for dogs. One thing that kind of confused me though, was the chapters about the soldier. I did not see any real connection to the story with these extra chapters. I just didn’t get the reason for them. That is really the only thing I did not like about this book. One thing that I really liked is that the main character, Fish, was trying to make his leg better, and that he wanted to improve for his dad. I also loved that he felt bad for his poor dog. He seemed like a really nice kid. I hope this review was helpful. Review by S.S.
Ghosts, written and illustrated by Raina Telegemeier, is a graphic novel about two young girls Maya and Cat. Cat is the oldest and Maya is the youngest. Maya has a lung disease called Cystic Fibrosis. Their family moves to Bahia de la Luna, California because there is a lot of fresh oxygen to breath which is very good for her lungs. At their new home, Cat and Maya soon meet a guy named Carlos that has lived there quite a while and knows a lot about the town. There is one big thing that goes around town which is, ghosts!! Ghosts live in Bahia de la Luna, California because they love the fresh air, also! On November 1 the town has a party called ‘The Midnight Party’. It’s where the dead ghosts come and have a reunion with their loved ones that live on earth. If I had to give a star review 1-5 I would give it a 4.5 because there is one thing that I would have added to make the book more special which is, in the book it talks about how Cat and Maya really want to see their grandmother but at the end they never get to meet her. Overall, I enjoyed reading this book and I would recommend it. Review by A.V.
The Black Lotus is a fascinating book about three young ninjas that are training while a secret plan is forming to steal the last hope for survival—the moon sword. As this takes place, the three heroes Ghost, Cormac, and Kate get teleported to the past where they have to get the sword back. I give this book a 4.5 out of five but I would have given it a 5 if it was a series. It is a 4.5 because it was very creative and exciting that makes you not want to put the book down at all.
