2025-2026 Call for Manuscripts

Deadline: October 10, 2025

To coincide with the OKCTE Fall 2025 conference and the 2025 NCTE theme, this upcoming issue of OEJ will feature the theme of Dream Boldly with Multimedia Literacies. We are seeking ideas and inquiries about the learning and teaching of English language arts, literacy, literature, writing, and media studies, with particular attention paid to how and where we can dream boldly in our classrooms. Multimedia (the tools) and multimodal literacies (the  invite students to “comprehend and communicate knowledge through alphabetic, aural, visual, spatial, and/or gestural content” (OSDE, 2021). We expand this definition to include multimedia and thus engage in broader communication landscapes (e.g., social media, television, arts, podcasts, and so much more) (NCTE, 2022).

Questions to consider: What inspires you to continue educating through multimedia literacies, and how can that inspiration shape our pedagogies, spaces, and communities? What does that look like in this seemingly AI-centered world? How can ELA educators, media specialists, librarians, and other support staff ensure equitable access to media literacy opportunities in diverse learning environments?

We hope you will consider contributing to the conversation!
